Maximize Your iPhones Idiots
By Rich Ramirez

You pay a lot of damn money for that Apple iPhone you should maximize it’s potential. I bring this up because recently my 2 good friends came to town and I was stunned that one of them was still using his shitty 1.8 megapixel standard camera, on his nice Apple 3G phone. Stunned because he is a smart guy, tech savvy and he knows what is going on. The other friend, lets call him Tommy Spence since that is his real name, has a flip phone so he is pretty much worthless. I can’t even text him, oh I can text him but to him that is as useless as a Rocket Booster.

So, back to the point at hand. You can dramatically increase the potential of your iPhone with the addition of just a few apps. Some of them are even free and most are only 99 cents. I am not pimping any particular brand or type mind you but just trying to help you maximize your iPhone.

#1 Get a decent camera app

If you take photos go get a new camera app. I take tons of photo’s with my iPhone and bought a 99 cent app that turned my iPhone’s camera into an 7 megapixel camera. Do you want to take pictures with a 1.8 megapixel camera, that your iPhone came standard with or with the 7.0 megapixel camera? I thought that was the answer, trust me it’s awesome and worth the dollar. Push the app store button, search cameras, research some apps and read the reviews.

#2 Get a video app and turn your iPhone into a video recorder

They come standard with the new Apple iPhone 3GS but if you have the earlier iPhones you can still shoot video with a video recorder app. Again, I have a damn good one and it was only a buck. Very easy to share the video as well, email it to friends, family or enemies. Find the video apps, read reviews, spend a dollar then write me a thank you note jerkwads.

#3 Get a Picture editing app

This isn’t 100% necessary but Adobe photoshop makes a decent one and it’s free. There are better ones, worse ones etc but if you just want a free one that will help you makes some cool shit out of your pictures it’s an easy fix. Don’t even read the reviews, it’s free dumb ass, just get it.

#4 UPDATE your iPhones!

Plug it into your computer every now and then and automatically get the Apple iPhone updates and the application updates. I know this sounds easy because it is but there are a lot of people who just charge their iPhones in the wall and never get them connected to their home computer. You have to physically plug the phone into the computer people to get the routine iPhone and application updates. The Apple updates make your iPhone run smoother, makes your battery life better, stuff along those lines and the apps you buy sometimes give free updates as well. You don’t have flip phones people, you have a highly tuned work of art, treat it like it deserves, with some technical TLC.

#5 Get a decent weather app

My weather app was free, and it’s awesome but you can pay for one and get one that is even more awesome-er! The standard weather app that came with your phone is junk. It says one thing: for example 85 and rain, that’s it. While that is probably accurate that certainly doesn’t cover the entire 24 hour weather period. My weather channel app will tell you when the highest possibility of rain is, show you the radar on video and break down temperatures by hour, 10-forecast and it was free. Plus, no Jim Cantore yelling at you or scaring the hell out of you. The free Weather Channel has ad’s for the Weather Channel but I don’t give a damn, I can’t read.

So if I did the math correctly you can spend $2 and have all those application / updates listed above and be a lot cooler person with a much more efficient iPhone. Take higher quality pictures, take cool videos, photoshop the hell out of them. Update your phone and get up to the minute weather updates. Do you know you just spent $2 and murdered your old iPhone apps. You’re welcome.
